Var-city
Football-cult super mutants south of Rapid City.
Overview (players)
The Bi-ga-me ritual
Led in the field by referee-styled figures in black-and-white body paint, carrying a football helmet trailing burning incense and a mininuke painted to look like a football. Teams of seven fight for possession of the device with real, brutal violence; the scorer kneels and holds the live device as the referee arms it, detonating it to reverent silence followed by ecstatic celebration. Losing teams are executed afterward.
Correct in-fiction terminology, confirmed at the table: the chant/ritual name is "Bi-ga-me," and the officiant is simply "the referee." (Older planning material used invented proper names for these — not used at the table, retired from the wiki.)
The party's game (Session 3)
The party was pulled in after being spotted near the stadium, answered the "Bi-ga-me" chant correctly, and were welcomed in as a team. In their own match they avoided any deaths by swapping the real mininuke for a decoy mid-play, then subverted an expected sacrifice entirely by carrying the fake into the end zone and, when nothing happened, leading a "Super Bowl" chant that the super mutants read as a divine sign — earning them treatment as chosen, protected figures and a small gold wedding ring (fulfilling A Ring for Rosa).
Also discovered here: the stadium's attached tower is closer to a full skyscraper than a simple radio mast, its lower floors holding old office ruins. Its satellite dish, once reactivated, picked up a heavily encrypted non-American (Chinese-origin) military transmission the moment it was pointed toward The Star.
