The Star

A scrap-built but clearly well cared-for chapel on a hill in Keystone, topped with a fused, multicolored blob of glass that scatters colored light inside through an open roof. First visited in Session 2.

The priest leads visitors to an outside cone of arranged steel bars, sighting down the convergence point to reveal a single faint star in the morning light — which he calls the "second Star of Bethlehem," believing it marks Christ's return, though he admits he doesn't know why it chose this place. He'd pay dearly for a telescope, and mentions rumors of an observatory somewhere in the Black Hills (possible, unconfirmed link to The Observatory).

In Session 3, the Var-city tower's satellite dish picked up a heavily encrypted, Chinese-origin military transmission the moment it was pointed toward the Star — the Star itself may therefore be something with a real, technological signature, not merely a religious sighting. Open thread, not yet investigated further.
