His presence on watch duty is what lets Mary connect the Coyotes' standoff to the mayor personally rather than to Keystone as a whole — the last time the Coyotes approached the town, someone in the tower opened fire on them, and hearing it was Wes on duty again confirms for her whose grudge this really is.
